Compare batteries on what actually matters.

Capacity is only the beginning.

Compare battery chemistry, usable capacity, warranty, expansion options, inverter compatibility and other specifications across real battery systems available in Australia.

Battery brands

Sigenergy

An integrated energy system combining battery storage, hybrid inverter and EV charging in a modular platform. Particularly relevant for homes planning to add more electrification over time.

Sungrow

A modular high-voltage battery system designed to work with Sungrow's hybrid inverters and energy-management platform.

Tesla

An integrated battery and inverter system with whole-home backup capability and Tesla's energy-management software.

AlphaESS

An integrated battery system with modular expansion and energy-management capabilities, including support for virtual power plant applications.

GoodWe

A modular battery system designed to integrate with GoodWe's inverter ecosystem, making it particularly relevant for homes already using GoodWe equipment.

FoxESS

A modular battery platform focused on flexible capacity expansion and integration with FoxESS hybrid inverters.

Enphase

An AC-coupled battery system designed to integrate with the Enphase Energy System, making it a natural option for homes already using Enphase microinverters.

BYD

A modular LFP battery platform that can be paired with compatible third-party hybrid inverters, allowing more flexibility in system configuration.

What should you actually compare?

Usable capacity

How much energy the battery can actually store and deliver, rather than its headline capacity.

Chemistry

Different battery chemistries involve different trade-offs around energy density, longevity, safety and system design.

Warranty

Look at years, throughput limits, retained capacity and the conditions attached to the warranty.

Inverter compatibility

Some batteries are designed as part of a particular manufacturer's ecosystem. Others offer more flexibility.

Expansion

Check whether additional modules can be added later and how that affects the usable capacity of the system.

Backup

If backup matters to you, look at what the complete system can actually power during an outage — not simply the battery's kWh capacity.

Common questions

How long will a 10kWh battery last?+

Most published models carry a 10 year warranty to 70 percent capacity retention, and some go longer, Enphase's IQ Battery 5P is warranted to 15 years and up to 6,000 cycles. A well matched battery used normally should comfortably reach its warranty term. See each model's own page for its specific warranty.

Don't choose a battery from the brochure.

Battery suitability depends on your solar system, household consumption, available space, electrical setup and how you use energy.

BatteryMe uses those factors to identify suitable systems and then gets you real installed prices from local installers.
