Battery rebates in New South Wales.

The federal rebate, same across Australia
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program applies in New South Wales the same way it applies everywhere else in the country. It pays a tiered share of the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) factor, currently 6.8, based on a battery's usable capacity:
- 100% of the factor on the first 14 kWh
- 60% of the factor from 14 kWh to 28 kWh
- 15% of the factor from 28 kWh to 50 kWh
That factor steps down every six months until 2030. The next step takes it from 6.8 to 5.7 on 1 January 2027. See what changes →

NSW VPP Incentive
A government incentive for connecting your battery to a Virtual Power Plant, administered through your VPP provider. Scales with the battery capacity made available to the grid, up to 28kWh. The amount isn't a fixed government figure, so ask your VPP provider for a current quote.
