Battery rebates in Northern Territory.
Last updated 1 October 2026
The federal rebate, same across Australia
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program applies in Northern Territory the same way it applies everywhere else in the country. It pays a tiered share of the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) factor, currently 6.8, based on a battery's usable capacity:
- 100% of the factor on the first 14 kWh
- 60% of the factor from 14 kWh to 28 kWh
- 15% of the factor from 28 kWh to 50 kWh
That factor steps down every six months until 2030. The next step takes it from 6.8 to 5.7 on 1 January 2027. See what changes →

Does NT have its own battery rebate on top of the federal one?+
Not currently. Northern Territory has no additional state battery rebate right now, just the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
