Battery rebates in Australian Capital Territory.

Last updated 1 October 2026

The federal rebate, same across Australia

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program applies in Australian Capital Territory the same way it applies everywhere else in the country. It pays a tiered share of the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) factor, currently 6.8, based on a battery's usable capacity:

  • 100% of the factor on the first 14 kWh
  • 60% of the factor from 14 kWh to 28 kWh
  • 15% of the factor from 28 kWh to 50 kWh

That factor steps down every six months until 2030. The next step takes it from 6.8 to 5.7 on 1 January 2027. See what changes →

Australian Capital Territory top-ups

Sustainable Household Scheme: up to $20,000

A low-interest loan (3% for most households), not a rebate — it doesn't reduce your total cost, only spreads it, repaid over 10 years via rates/water notices. Concession card holders may qualify for a smaller, zero-interest $10,000 version instead.

No government-run VPP incentive confirmed for Australian Capital Territory currently.
